I’m trying to probe part on my indexer. I know I have to swap my “B” axis with my “X” axis in the VI page. I think I have to change the step/travel from inch to deg in my setting.
Does this look right? New setting = X old * (360/2 dia *pi) or if my part that is being probe is 1” diameter.
The formula will look like this. X old value * (360/2*1*3.1416) or (X old value*57.29). Does this look OK? Do I need to change anything else? My present value in my “B” axis is set at 40.

Jean-Remy,

The formula for circumference is Pi*D or 2*Pi*R.

D = Diameter

R = Radius

I think you would want to loose the "2" in your formula.

I have done this to probe rice carving. After you swap the b and x set your new b to 7.84 or 7.88 in.
and you should be good to go. Put a mark on your indexer motor and one on your turning and test to see witch it is. Hope this helps.Sorry I don't know the math on this.

sorry after the swap a mx 7.84in. will be a full circle. So if you probe in the x axis this should be a full circle.

I'm not sure what version of control software you are using and why you are using the terminology "swap the X axis" because the newer versions have a readout for X,Y,Z and A,B and would not necessitate you "swapping your X axis" and changing the readout from in. to degrees, as you could do that for the A,B readouts and leave them, if i understand what you are trying to do.

Jack. When I’m saying swap, I mean change the values from Channel 1 and 5. Channel 1 is now B axi and channel 5 is X axi. But I still can't get it to work.
