It seems pretty much the perfect product for a Shopbot; I wonder if it's got a design patent on it? One thing for sure, if it's being sold into the marine market, the margins are great.

Bamboo is a tough material, no doubt - But I'm not sure if I like the odds of them holding up for a decent sized adult for too long.
You'd have to have $$ coming out your rear to blow $350 on something like that.

People who are the targets of that type of thing are yacht owners, not small boaters. They do have money blowing out their ...........:D

I've got a yacht and I wouldn't touch one of those with a bargepole even if they cost a 1/4 of the price.

Another neat market would be for folks going to parades and shows that involve a lot of walking. You could easily make it out of plywood but it would get pretty heavy.

What do you think they're using for hinge-pins? Is it possible that it's part of the cut-out or a separate piece?

The largest image I could find in Google images under Valdenassi Jolly Chair, and then clicking on one of the web article pics it pointed to, suggests metal (likely SS) pins inserted in drilled through-holes; I'm assuming with some type of cement to hold them in place.

Having seen so many requests on the forum over the last few years for ideas well suited to the Shopbot, my intent in posting it is not to suggest direct knock-offs but rather to show an example of a simple, innovative way to produce something low in materials cost, fast in cutting time and easy to flat-pack for shipping. It seems to me that the concept could be varied to come up with other designs and products. Hopefully, it will help someone do that.
