View Full Version : Tab error ?

I am confused with the tab feature in part works 2D.
Every time I want to calculate the (profile) toolpath with tabs, I get this error message:

unable to transfer tab information from original vectors.
Please ensure that the gap between all vectors is greater than the tool diameter to create tabs.
Check toolpaths carefully to ensure that results are correct.

As a test, say I take a sheet 500 x 500mm, draw a circle of say 200mm and add 4 tabs. All I want is profiling the circle and leave 3 tabs.
Still I get this message.

Do I missing something here?

Hi Alex,

I have seen that error before when someone has changed the tolerance settings in the Options menu, but there can be other causes.

Can you post a sample .crv file with toolpaths?

Tim

Found a thread on the Vectric Forum that addresses this:

Mark's (Vectric Tech Support) answer is below.

Hi Alex,

Your problem is exactly as Mark discussed in the attachment to my post above. If you look at the screen snip below, the toolpath was calculated using a different tolerance setting (0.001mm verses 0.01mm). It would be best for you to read his answer as he explains it very well.

If you delete the current toolpath and create another one, it will work for you. I also suggest you change the Cut Depth to 18mm or the tabs will not be generated. You currently have tabs set to 2mm thickness with a cut depth of 16mm in 18mm material. So the tabs are never actually cut as they exist in the 2mm of material not being cut.

Let us know if this makes sense to you.

Hi Alex,

I am happy that worked for you.

In case you still didn't find it, Mark's explaination is the picture I attached to my first post above, post #2.
