Thank you as well for your service. I did not expect a post of this type on this forum.
Outstanding!
I'm a veteran myself and you have probably read this before but I re-read it every year on this date:
__________
I was that which others did not want to be.
I went where others feared to go, and did what others failed to do.
I asked nothing from those who gave nothing and reluctantly accepted the thought of eternal loneliness ... should I fail.
I have seen the face of terror; felt the stinging cold of fear; enjoyed the sweet taste of a moment's love.
I have cried, pained and hoped ... but, most of all, I have lived the times others would say were best forgotten.
At least someday, I will be able to say that I am proud of what I was ...
a soldier.

That is a very cool piece Garrett. Thank you for posting that.
Here is a very cool video showing appreciation for our soldiers and sailors.

Yes, Thank You to all Veterans and forces currently serving our great nations both near and far. We could not have the type of lives we live each day without your great sacrifices.
Today I remember a elderly customer of mine you past away this past spring who served in WW2. He was a very decorated and honored veteran. There was a special parade and service in July to honor him at our local Legion. We renovated his kitchen once and after every day of work he insisted we sit down and have a drink with him. He lived alone as his wife and children lived in the city and he preferred the small town life. Many times while having our daily drink and chat he told us stories of his time serving and things he seen and had to do. Most days he cried and sometimes he could not finish the story and changed the subject or left the room for a brief moment. He was a tall sturdy man and to see him come to tears about his memories has never left my thoughts. Now that he is gone I do wish I had stopped over more just for a visit. He was a GREAT MAN.
To all service men and woman please stay strong and come home safe. God bless and THANK YOU.
