finally ... someone with the desktop... how is it working out... I had a prs alpha and only found I was using a few inches of the table... so I'm looking at getting a desktop.
Any problems?? did you get the router or the spindle.. reviews on the particular router they are using have not been very good... if you have the router, can you tell me the diameter of the motor... there appears to be a ridgid router that may be the same size .. but with a 3 year warranty..
do you have any better pictures of your machine than what is on the shopbot site.. I would like to see how the table mounts and whether it would be easy to put on a spoil board or even lower the table as there is not much height..
any help would be great

I used one for a client setting up a manufacturing process.
I was building and testing the code on an 96" alpha with a spindle
and then doing final install on the desktop.
The table has slots (from right to left). I used barrel connectors (1/4" metal with threaded holes through its mid section) to hold my frames
onto it,
The unit had a router with dust pickup built in.
I connected a simple shopvac to collect the waste and that worked fine.
The machine came packed very well (excellent crate). The unit can be safely picked up by 2 but I muscled the machine at my shop.
I could see owning 3 desktops over one large machine so you could have many spindle heads cutting simaltaneously.
I had one minor issue that the plug containing the limits switches was wired incorrectly but Shopbot had coverage over the weekend while I
was setting it up.
Good luck in your decision

Hi Mitch,
We are new to CNC and we have not had any problems other than problems that we created due to our inexperience! The PC router is fine, I have two others of the same make and model in my shop. One is in a pin router, the other is on a router table. I have not had problems with any of them. On the desktop, we have been using it to cut 1.5 thick wood for forms using .5 inch bits, down to cutting shell inlay out for instrument decoration, basically our name in script in shell using 0.020 bits. The machine has worked perfectly every time. The only thing I wish differently on the machine was to have a higher Z, but other than that it is perfect. It comes pre wired and set up so all you have to do is plug it in and it is ready to go. If you give me your email, we will send you some more photos of the machine.
