I'd suggest a down spiral or compression bit. Be sure to have good dust collection or wear a respirator (or both)!

any suggestions on how to hold down the part? Is it possible to cut it out with one pass? speed suggestions would also help

I would use a .25 or larger down cut bit 1 pass. I have a vac table so I just use it. If not put some tabs on it. I cut it about 3 IPS

I leave my speed at about 1200 rpm's. Feed about 2.5 ips.
As far as holddowns, I just put my hand on it the last few seconds so it won't rattle around. john

I use Widgetworks Pressure foot for similar cuts.

Withthis stuff and a downcut a vac would be enough. it is pretty soft to cut so it does not vibrate really. to get the cleanest cut a 2f straight bit works best on masonite. I think I used a fairly high rpm to get a clean cut but I can't remember for sure.

I would run in one pass with a compression bit. I would use a vac hold down tabs if not. One thing that I do that helps keep that last bit from getting a divot is to ramp the cut.

Masonite is more like cardboard then anything else it cuts fuzzy. No need for a compression bit. I have cut it with a up with a down and a straight bit and the straight gives a clean cut. well that was for tempered Masonite. the regular stuff is even worse.
