We are delighted to announce the release of PartWorks V3.5.
This is a free upgrade for all existing owners of PartWorks 3.0. To see what is new in version 3.5 please visit the What’s New page here http://www.vectric.com/WebSite/Vectric/ ... erview.htm (http://www.vectric.com/WebSite/Vectric/vcp/whats_new/vcp_v65/whats_new_overview.htm)
The update is being distributed as a ‘patch’ program which will update your existing V3.0 install to V3.5. After the patch has successfully run, clicking on your existing PartWorks link will start PartWorks 3.5 instead of 3.0.
Please note that the patch program will only update English language versions of PartWorks.
The procedure for getting the patch will depend on whether you have your PartWorks computer connected to the internet or not.

If you do 'Help - Check for Updates' as shown in the screen shot below you should be told there is a later version available.
A Big thanks to Brian and the Vectric team for getting this out to us.

Excuse me if i am confused, link 2 update summary goes to vcarve pro and not a partsworks specific document. As i have aspire and recently updated it's new version, i see the summary is similiar. I don't use PW much... but was confused by the link.

Quick and easy.. The only glitch was that I had multiple copies of PW open and had to first close ALL of them. I applaud Vectric and their support of multi core processors with this update!
My desktop icon still says 3.0. is this correct?

The PartWorks software is the same as the VCarve Pro so the link applies to both.
Since this is a Patch your icon on the Desktop will still say 3.0 but if you go to "Help" and "About PartWorks" the version number will be displayed as 3.5

If the computer running PartWorks is not connected to the internet, you can find the link to download the patch here http://www.shopbottools.com/mSupport/drivers.htm to a flash drive. Plug flash drive into computer with PartWorks and run the file on the drive.

I'm new to Partworks, but for some reason when I run a sbp file generated by partworks, output for AUX axis, I get this:
"The file you are running is written for use in metric mode.
Currently your control software is set up for inches. If you intend to be in metric use the VD command to change your"
All setup options in the program are set to "inch" - when I examine the files it starts with:
"'SHOPBOT FILE IN INCHES"
There are no visible signs of "mm" setting anywhere in the file.
When I click "OK" the part previews normally...?
Any ideas?
Thanks,
David

Hi David,
The file is giving you the MM message because of the Post Processor that you chose when saving the file. Try again and make sure you choose the ShopBot Inch post. Also it helps us to know what version of the software you are running.

Hey Scott,
Thanks for your reply. I am using "inch" post processors - I don't even have mm PPs in my active folder. The version of my Partworks is the latest 3.503, and my Shopbot Control Software is also the most recent - 3.6.42. I'll paste the first few lines of one of the sbp files that do this below.
I'm open to any other ideas.
Thank again,
David

Hey David,
I'm betting that you have a funky post processor that's not writing an END statement that it should. If you look at your file near the bottom, it should have an END statement before the C91 command that brings up that error message. If that END statement (circle in red ) isn't there, the error message always displays even if there's no problem.
Give me a call if you have questions,
Bill

Hey Bill,
Hope you had a good Thanksgiving.
Thanks for that solution. It did the trick.
The PP that came with my PartWorks 3 was missing that "END" for some reason, the ones with the ShopBot upgrade [that I just found and un- zipped] had it.
One more question. How come the PartWorks PPs for the AUX Z don't add the part in the footer that allows it to preview correctly? This part:
PREVMODE:
&my_XinHead2offset=0 'These values must remain zero for the preview to display properly.
&my_YinHead2offset=0
RETURN
It was there but wrong in Part Wizard and I've been manually editing every 2nd head file for years to make them work. I'm looking forward to no more of that.
I added it myself, which results in the file being shifted over in the right X & Y place, but the Z seems to not be previewed and instead the cut appears to hover above the stock surface. Any ideas on that one?
Thanks again...
David

I upgraded the computer at the house and proceeded to change up the drawing I was working on.. Put it on the USB memory stick and took it to the shop. Won't come up because it was created with a later version of Partworks.
Shlepped the shop computer back to the house, where I had a wi fi connection.................. you get the rest!

You could have put the file from here - http://www.shopbottools.com/mSupport/drivers.htm - onto the thumb drive and upgraded the shop computer that way.
Not much help now I know. :)

I am running Aspire and I received the upgrade and installed on my lap top I design with but my control computer is not connected to the net. I do not see a link for Aspire to put on a jump drive will the one for Partworks have the same upgrades?
Thanks Mike

Did I miss something? My Partworks is v. 1.102. The upgrade is 3.0 to 3.5? How do I upgrade to 3.0 so that I can then use the 3.0-3.5 upgrade? Is this something I needed to buy?
Also, my Partworks 3D is v. 1.002. Is there a newer version?
I'm so confused.

If you want to have the latest version, you need to buy an upgrade via ShopBot. I don't know what the price is, but it is probably cheap & well worth the cost if you are running v1.
There is no newer version of PWorks3D. You've got the current version.

Tim,
You will need to contact ShopBot directly to upgrade from V2.5. This upgrade is from V3.0 to V3.5.
