View Full Version : Cave Man Sign
Out of the blue a customer calls about his new restaurant and requesting price quotes. Then he tells me it was to be, “Man Cave Restaurant". I just about leaped through the roof. This title had lots of potabilities and I could hardly wait to get started. In my mind I could see lots of graphic images like cave drawing and all sorts of guy stuff. When I suggested not using the term "Restaurant" and substitute the words, "Man Food" everyone at the table started laughing. From there on everyone was on board. I usually get a firm commitment prior to doing any art but this was such a fun project I started right in. The contract and deposit turned around in one day.
The process from here is to have my welder build the super structure. Meanwhile I'll kick the router into action cutting letters and logo's.
Each day the client calls with more orders and is excited about his project. I have three weeks before my holiday so gotta get busy.

If this is a sign for a new restaurant, i hope the waitresses wear bearskins like the caveman does:rolleyes:
ala hooters
Keep us updated Joe!
Yes Jack. That's the idea and Hooters is the model. There's a trampoline out front too.
It's close to impossible for me to drive by one of my old signs and not stop to see how she's doing. Each one has it's own personality.

One thing for sure, you have left a legacy of beautiful work out there......
(not that we expect you to kick the bucket anytime soon!)
Thanks Jack,
I'm not much with a legacy but what I really care about is having a new, challenging project in front of me. Without that I'm lost.
David,
I'd like to visit the router ranch this year and meet all you guys. Gary B. invited me to ride down with him. I'll be keeping warm, riding across Guatemala in chicken buses but may be back in time. Wish we had more router chicks attending. A little beauty would be good.

Joe,
I heard the Porter Cable Performace Chicks would be attending and handing out free V-bits at break time.
Oh... and I love the sign concept here. I'll be following this thread with great anticipation.
You do know that if you come up with the design concept, you should be negotiating a royalty fee on ALL of their future merchandising sales.
Twenty-five cents per T-shirt could be significant over 10 years.
Have fun!

You and Gary both?
Be still my beating heart-That would be fabulous.
We are having router chicks!
Look out for forged Mayan artifacts in Guatamala!

David,
Woops, I made a mistake about my camp intentions. I should have been more clear about Dr. Beckwith and myself intentions. Let me apologize for my misstatement. We had talked about driving down to Wayne's Rodeo if I make it back in time. Both of us would like to visit your camp also but it's not in the cards. It would be lots of fun.

Anything new on the Cave Man project Joe?
Eric & All,
I presented three options on the Cave Man project, each one with a different cost. I encourage the client to take their time making the final decision. One word of caustion: It's necessary to be paid, upfront, for the concept otherwise you can might come up short.
The most fun for me is the illustration. I'd be quiet happy doing less fabrication. But the concepts are to hard to describe and have someone pull it off. I'm presently finishing up the drawings for a Baverian Restaurant and Brewery. That's been lots of fun but I'd send it out if there was a local artists to do the manual work.

Hope to see you a Wayne's, Joe. It's been too long since I've heard all those lies you tell.
Thanks Raymond.
It would be good to see you again too. Luck for you I have a fresh bag of lies.I know you would be delighted.
I'm getting a little short of my "Instant Post Holes". If I have any left over I'll bring them to Wayne's camp. I'd like to throw a few down on that hot dry
texas soil to show well they work. Business for these has been very active.
