I'm trying to get an indexer setup at work, we have some hexagonal spindles with simple profile to make. The machine is a PRT probably 1999-2000 vintage. I'm thinking this dividing head would be a good start to an indexer. http://www.grizzly.com/products/G1053
For this job speed of rotation is not an issue, but I'm concerned about what max rpm would be for other uses. I have some extra 1.8 degree per step, direct drive motors left over from upgrading the machine to gear box motors. Does the allegro board micro step?
So, my question is what could I expect max rpm to be with this setup?
(motors 200 steps per rev) x (dividing head 40:1) = 8000 steps per rev.
Are there any other problems with this setup anyone can think of?
Thanks, Shawn
