Not sure if it is my two fein box I made for the vacs or a problem with the speed control model. but both had the bottoms melt on me and and of course stop working. So it is hard to tell if it is because I took them from their original housing and set them on top of a box that combined them. it is a 36x18x18 3/4" plywood box with two holes for the vacs to sit on. with one 2" air inlet. one other fellow had his die too.
I did have one of the older model feins in one hole while one vac was in repair and it shows no signs of heat.
the tech said a resister that let the speed control work had a broken connection but he said it would just not let you change speed.
so it may be best to stick with the older model for the job.
