We are getting slightly oblong/oval holes where we should have circles. I've read some similar posts and most people point to the tracks becoming unaligned. We will check after this project. Anything else we should check for?
Thanks,

I have had this problem from time to time on my other machine. When it happened, it was always because the pinion had slipped on one side of my machine. When I loosened the four bolts that held the motor up, and allowed the pnion to come out of the rack, it always shifted by about .1" and that was all I needed to do. I don't know exactly what caused it (Maybe I was running it at MAX speed and one side did not keep up with the other???) but this fixed the problem immediately . It only happened 2-3 times... but it was something I looked out for when spot checking parts.

I have had this problem for a while. I am going to try and remove the motors and make sure everything is tight... Thanks for the re-post on this..
Chris.

Jerry,

What wire was unplugged and where was it?

It was one of the x cables at the control box. It would cut a square just fine but would cut a circle as an oval.

Our ovals oblong cuts do seem to be long on the x axis.

I tried loosening the motors and re tightening, I didn't notice any real movement...I'm going to give it another try as well as look at the cables again..

Erwin...
Dont forget to check the grub screws on the motor pinions when you have the motors loose.

How far out of round are they?

If the error is very slight, I wouldn't rule out the other suggestions, but I would also try some different toolpathing strategies to reduce machine or bit flex, if you haven't done so already.
