Great job Joe. I purchased some of the roundover bits you have been talking about. It looks like that is what you used for the simulated lights. I hope to be doing some test cuts with them here in the near future.

Good for you Andy.
Yep, I used a brad point round over for the red lights. I probably use these bits for creative work more than other.

This project is now ready for neon plant. Finished up in about two hours. I made a mistake, which cost me another hour, by not putting down the drop shade first. I chose the Omaha Orange shade since it's a complement on the color wheel. Makes for a punchy look.

OK Joe,

Where did you learn all of this?

How long have you been in business?

Are you self employed? (I assume so)

Greetings Rick,

I opened up business in the spring of 1980. Four brushes and a few pints of One Shot lettering enamel. My first big investment was an overhead projector. With that equipment I thought I owned the art world. I could paint anything!

I owe all my skills to other Letterhead Sign Artists and my profession of Art Teacher.

KH,

I used Extira, Trupan and HDU on this project. I should have cut the letters from PVC. And backing up, I should have put the Orange vinyl down before the letters.

As you know I often design around a romantic theme. The same way Walt Disney would. His "Pirate, Space Exhibit, Mad Hatter, etc are all done this way. On my Neon sign I remember seeing photo's of the old movie houses. That's where the design came from. Designing with this way makes the work easy.

Good on you, old man. Really nice work.

You know, at your age, you're not supposed to be that creative. Isn't it time for you to retire and let those young whippersnappers that know all about graphic design take over?

Thanks old boy,

I'm not doing nearly as much as I had been. Sometimes the CNC sets there idle for days. My plotter was turned on for the drop shades for "Custom Time & Neon". I tried staying at home, golf & fishing but I like making signs better.

The post hole sales keep me busy enough.

Our good friend Mark Fair called last week and it was a golden opportunity to ask him about his antique surfacing methods. Most of it is a crackle effect. I gotta get some of that on my signs. He's a great guy.

Cheers
