LOTS of extra moves in my cut files

This just started two days ago.
Trying to track down the cause of a bad cut, I found lots of extra moves in my .sbp file when I have ramps or tabs turned on. A simple tab is producing 9 or 10 moves with changes in both x and y on each move. I produced one rectangle cut file that was @200 lines!

What the heck is going on???? I have reinstalled PW and SB and upgraded both to no avail.

Select a SMOOTH ramp instead of a zig-zag ramp when you calculate your toolpath.

That is a smooth ramp. I have also tried zigzag - same thing. Look at all the moves in the tab. It seems very random, because that same file with 4 tabs might only have all the extra moves on only one of the tabs

The problem is that your tab (a 3D tab) is right on the corner and thus the movements in the code reflect numerous M3's for the ramp up/down for the tab and also the curve which also has to be broken into many small segments. If you need a tab on the corner, try it without 3D tabs and you should see less code.

If you put your tabs on the sides, you'll have better results.

I just made a file for a rectangle with a spiral ramp, no tabs - that should be pretty much the same as a smooth ramp, only longer. Note that the ramp is @130 lines with movement in xy & z on EVERY line!!!! See the pic of the edge I am getting - only on 1 of 4 sides - the other 3 are good. Going insane here.

It would be better if you just posted the .crv file from Partworks.

A spiral ramp will indeed have many lines of code to spiral down around the part. Try just a profile toolpath with no ramp and no tabs and you'll see that there will be a lot less code.

Check your edge quality then and if it is still wavy, you may have some other issues with your machine such as something loose, out of alignment, or cutter deflection.

As Tim stated, post your file to be sure to eliminate that as the culprit.
