Where is a good place online to buy new router contacts? I've found a few sites but I'm a little leery of some of these sites. Btw, I think I was told a couple of years ago by Shopbot that my contacts had been discontinued. I'm tired of having to run over and switch the router off at the end of a file. Also, the #'s on my contacts are AEG LS07 01E. I have found both 01E and a 10E. Do any of you electrical geniuses now if they are interchangeable?
Thanks,Kip

This may sound like a really dumb question but, is the router supposed to shut off
by itself after a file is cut??

In a word, yes. I have heard of some machines, that for some reason, do not. Not sure if it's because they were set up wrong or not. I know mine did from the get go until about two years ago. I have a 2004 PRT Alpha

Is your post processor adding the above code to the end of your file? (red highlight mine)

Thanks Kip, I have had my BT 48 standard for about a year to this day. Man that would be awsome if it shut off after cutting. Guess I'm going to have to do some sniffing around and see what I can do. Sorry I can't help you with your router contacts, I haven't a clue. Thanks again Kip.

I think C7 is the spindel off command... do you have a spindle?

Someone help me out here... Is a different PP supplied to those who get a spindle? I have the router and have the SO commands on my PRT alpha.
Try editing out the C7 command and putting in the SO, 1, 0 (Switch Operate SW1, state 0) command

Steve,
Just looked at my files and they all look like this.

Another thought... check if you have other post processors available to you when you save your tool paths. Mine is the "ShopBot (arcs)(inch) (*.sbp) " If you are using one with "spindle" in the name... look for another one.

Steve, I got all screwed up when I went from inches to mm. Everything seems to be out of wack, or maybe I'm not really used to it. Here is my post processor file.

here is a thread that has me confused...
I wasn't aware of any direct PPs or the TC series of PPs
Now someone else is going to have to jump in and explain what is the correct PP for you to be using...

Rick,
If you don't have a toolchanger and don't have a spindle with speed control, you should be using a post named something like "ShopBot (arcs)(MM) (*.sbp)".
If you want to send the generated file directly to the machine (auto open SB3 and load the file), then use one that has the direct variable in it or the pp can be edited to add it if you do want to use it from time to time.
The thread that Steve linked to has more info on doing that.

Your thread did kind of get hijacked didn't it. ;)
A quick search showed some on Ebay and others that may be worth contacting...

Why not contact ShopBot for replacement contactors? They should have the right repacement part or know where you can get them.

Kip,
I'm really sorry for taking over your thread, I didn't know how to move my posts
or anything. I will wait for a bit and start a new thread. I hope you found what
you needed with your contacts. Thank you for bringing my attention to the
router thing. Once again, I'm sorry.

Kip,
They are not interchangeable - the .01 indicates Normally Closed auxiliary contacts, and the .10 indicates Normally Open auxiliary contacts. They appear to be available.

The latest PP's for operation with manual tool change and auto tool change operations use C7 for turning the router/spindle off and C6 for turning it on. They contain the S0,1,0 command.

Thanks for the replies. No problem on the high jacking;). I did contact SB and they do have replacements, however, they are slightly oversized and have to be re-drilled to fit according to Frank. And at twice the cost. As for the available web sights, I was just uneasy about the whole EBay thing, I've never bought anything through them so I just really wanted to buy from a reputable company if possible.

Kip as far as the Ebay thing, if you look for people with a long selling record and high customer satisfaction rating you should be ok but you need to be vigilant.
