Just installed this weekend, all mahogany, mdf letters and details, small panel on gmelina wood. Acrylic paint and topcoat for the lettering, marine urethane varnish on wood. Thanks to Joe Crumley for his great tips and insights.

You're welcome,

Attractive advertising sign. I know the owners are delighted. Your leaves on the corners pull the whole sign together. If this was my job would have to had some healthy chain on the support. In Okla. the wind would take it away.

Good job.

Can you please explain how you did the leaves? Looks fantastic, the leaves really bring it all together.

Well the leaves are from the Vector Art 3D catalog cut in 1/2 in mdf.
I seal the surface with lacquer sanding sealer and cover it with acrylic primer. Once dry a single coat of sand textured paint is applied,(donīt have to worry much about sanding imperfections) and on top of that a basic Sap Green acrylic paint is sprayed on. I highlight the top of the leaves by airbrushing a little bit of yellow and shade the bottom by adding dark blue to the basic color. A light spray of metallic green acrylic over the top gives it a really nice look. Once dried, itīs all topcoated with acrylic semi gloss finish. Sounds like a lot of work but it is done in a few minutes.

Mario,

That's a little hard to believe.

Sorry Joe, guess that a "few minutes" is the time it takes to apply each color layer, but the whole process goes along on a workday.

Mario, very cool. Simple, easy to read, classy. Good combination!
