These cuts are the foundation for furniture and cabinet building and now they can be created in just a few minutes using Cambium Code Standard. A complete g-code program can be generated very quickly by simply entering parameters for stock size, cut size and placement, feed rates, etc.

This approach is backwards from the standard process of designing in a CAD package, exporting to a CAM package, then generating a g-code file. Our method will save you considerable time, since you need only enter a handful of parameters and some standard text.

With Scripts to Generate Part Models in SketchUp
In addition to generating G-code, plugins are available for Google SketchUp which will automatically generate the part in SketchUp.

ShopBot can run GCode, although it is not the native language. Since there are well over 10,000 ShopBots in the world, it would be a good idea to output ShopBot SBP code as well. It is very easy to learn & implement.

To clarify Brady's comments a bit,

Cambium Code will run on any machine that takes standard G code. As much as I understand how the ShopBot controller works, a ShopBot machine can accept standard G code, so this program should be useful to you. It will run for 30 days without a license, so you can check it out if you'd like.

AutoSet (now renamed Precision Point) is a setup tool to set tool lengths, find edges and set an X-Y-Z zero. The software scripts that come with this product are what is for Mach 3 only. It looks like ShopBot come with scripts to perform these functions, so it seems to me that ShopBot owners are likely not to be interested in this product.

If anyone tries the software and has any comments, I'd love to hear your thoughts. Thanks.

has anyone d/l'ed this and tried it? I d/l'ed it but haven't exactly figured it out.

Was there a tutorial somewhere that might run me thru making say a half blind dovetail on .75 thick stock 6 wide? or whatever..:confused:

Yes, actually I just created a video tutorial that shows the basics of making half-blind dovetails. I made it intentionally brief as an overview. I'd be curious to get your thoughts about how well it explains how to use the program. I plan to add more of these videos in the near future and cover some of the other joint types. Did you find the user's manual on the web site as well?

Hi Matt,
I watched the video and didn't see this and only saw a reference in your picture under "part2 and tail parameters" for where you Zero your bit for the x,y origin and it is on the corner, and i have a couple questions.

Would you consider that the Left side/back corner as the board is facing you, with the width in the Y axis, the thickness in the X axis?

I assume you Zero your Z axis to the material surface but my question is do you set the center of the bit to the corner of the stock? or corner of the bit?

I was going to make a file with all the same settings that you use in the video because there were a couple i didn't understand.:confused:
