this job is for a non profit doing a donation display for food .I gave them a deal on the time as it is just foam core and fast and easy to cut. they had the 40 sheets of material here last friday well finally they finished the drawings and sent them today.
they sent each layer as a separate file 76 of them. it would not be so bad but there are a lot of extra lines. the sample they sent was fine. this was done in sketch up pro. check it out it will take longer to impor these then it will take to cut them.

the top part looks like a fat lady's butt bent over:D
Its made with a bunch of straight lines. It's going to look like **** when cut out, i think

Steve,

Have them send you the sketchup file. If i have time i'll clean it up for you. Looks like a busy weekend though so don't know exactly when i'll get it done.

Randy

I am not sure how she saved it if she put each layer in a separate file or exported each part into a separate file.
her sample was perfect but she had no clue how to fix it.
cnydww can you tell me how to fix it so I can tell people? I told them I would have to charge them to fix it only 30.00 a hour since this is a charity job. but man it took about 5 minutes per file some were better some a bit worse. so I had to replace the holes because they were so messed up. some were perfect I have no idea how she managed that. now 27 sheets of foam to cut but I am going to cut it fast as this does not need to be perfect and it will just have cans stacked on it.
the only tool that worked is select duplicates that got rid of a little of it. but I just had to select sections and delete the extra lines.

Sounds like she exported it as 3D rather than 2D. That will import into Partworks etc as 2D but you get loads of extra lines from the redundant planes.

You have to select then right click on the arcs in sketchup and click divide. It should let you go up to 100 segments. Otherwise i think you can clean it up in partworks. Use fit curves to selected vectors.

Talk about copying other peoples work:) Of course it was probably copied from a photo on the net anyway:)
This file was created by Jen at Delcam for the ArtCam usersgroup meetings last Sept/Oct. It was then put out on DVD for the AAP members.

27 sheets of foam cut today. machine cut time only 1.5 hours and figure at least that much time to put on and removing sheets and parts.

Nice. In the second photo showing the profile how does the head not fall off? It looks like the head wants to lean forward unless there is some type of internal neck support. Also, where can you buy the giant foam core boards?

the chin piece is 1/4" mdf. these were just 4x8 sheets from a sign supply. about 12.00 each.
