Anyone out there ever make boxes? I have some products I need special size boxes made. I looked into having them made but they are expensive unless I buy a bunch at a time and I do not have room to store 50 each of 6 sizes of boxes. I plan to make them like mailers so there is no gluing. The parts are large and flat so the box does not need to be tall. The design seems simple enough.

I know I can buy cardboard blanks and then I could just make a few at a time as I need them.

What do I cut corrugated cardboard with for one? I will also need to crease the cardboard where I want to fold it, is there a tool available for this? I was thinking if I could not buy a creasing tool I would make one.

This is the type box I need they just don't make them in dimensions I can use. http://www.uline.com/BL_1304/Jumbo-Kraft-Easy-Fold-Mailers

Thanks Mike

I suggest a box cutting widget for vcarve/aspire to Ryan Patterson for similar needs. You might second the request to him.

I've cut some using a small bit and the pressure foot. I just make a shallow cut where I want the creases.

Mike...
ShopBot has a tangential knife attachment for the desktop that holds a utility knife blade. This should work well for cardboard if you can keep it from sliding. I am not sure how close it is to sales, what it costs, orif the post processor is ready for prime time, but I will check for you next time I am at the shop.

Go to uline.com they have boxes, box material, box cutters and sizers..
What i do is get large flat sheets of cardboard and cut it to the size i need with a utility knife and a drywall tee. Then use the box sizer to cut the sides to what i need.

I have cut a bunch of it. it does not cut clean with most bits. there is a carboard bit that costs about 140.00 vacuum holds it down well. It may be better to use a pen to draw them out and cut them by hand.

I agree with Steve, but I cut a template in 1/8 inch MDF and then cut around the template with a box knife
