We just purchased a ShopBot from auction so we were unable to learn anything about it from the previous owner. I'm hoping for a little more info before I call for support. Our current hangup is that we don't know what software version we need or if we need to immediately update any components.

I'm pretty sure it is a PRTAlpha as it has the powder coated rails and it measures 65.5" inches rail to rail.

I can't find any information about the control board or what I assume is the relay panel. The numbers on them are as follows.

ShopBot Driver/Control Board
P/N 001003 v0.7 © 2004
PRTA0000112006 000973

Control Relay Board
ShopBot P/N 0014430 v1.1 © 2005

This is what I do know thanks to the info from the ShopBot website or from the component tags.

2.2 hp single phase HSD spindle (Model AT/MT 1073-070) powered by a Yaskawa V7-4 VFD - It also has an air drill
Oriental Motor Co. Model ASM911AA stepper motors paired with ASD30EA-B1 motor controllers.

Advice much appreciated.
Thanks,
Rich

Rich,
The best thing to do is to call Shopbot direct. They will tell you everything you need to know, they don't charge you for info or technical help and most importantly they don't act like they are doing you a favor. So you will be pleased with their attitude and willingness to help.

And we are sure you will be asking a ton of other questions as you get it assembled and working and start to want to make cuts. Just ask any questions someone here will always have an answer.

I have a 2006 PrtAlpha 120-60 which is probably what you have. Not sure of the year but they will know who the previous owner was and all the info you need.

You should be able to download the current software from the shopbot website. Its a free download, and should work just fine. At most you may have to re-load the firmware into the controller. Thats free also!

Take a few pictures of what you bought and post them with your question so we can identify what you have. A shot of the stepper motors is quite helpful in separating out which of the two drive types you have. Getting good advice will depend on knowing which you have.

Sounds like you picked up a good machine..

You will have to load the firmware no matter what. every time you change computers you need to do this as each computer has different configurations.

Thanks for the quick replies.

I've read nothing but good things about their support. Still, I wanted to get as much figured out as possible before calling and sounding like a bumbling fool.

I think we're pretty close to wiring it in and finding out if it still works.
