Folks -

Hope all y'all had a good Christmas/Hannucha (?) Kwansa, solstice....

Question - We've had our PRT Alpha up and running for just over a year now... What kind of maintenance should be done - anything beyond blowing out the spindle with air, greasing the racks and checking bolts for tightness?

I'd be interested in hearing your feedback - we haven't had any trouble, other than the normal Windows based snafus and sadly, what appear to be chronic inaccurate/troublesome "Z" issues.

Feedback??

John Moorhead

Pinions wear... replacement and/or greasing.

Squaring X, Y and Z; check and adjustment if needed.

Play and looseness all around from X rail to spindle/router chuck.

Defrag. of the control PC hard drive if needed; can't hurt... disk check while at it.

Check for the latest control software available; recommended to do every few weeks or so.

Clean up if you're willing to and needed... can't hurt.

De burring of the rails edges if needed and you cut yourself on a few times...

John, The proper "PC" greeting is "Happy Ramahanukwanzmas". I just finished dooing all those things to my bot last week. I also checked all of the V-bearings on the gantry and Z axis. Turns out my Z bearings were a tad loose and that was causing my MDF doors to be lumpy and bumpy along the X cut. Since I adjusted them all is well. Merry Christmas to all! Kip
