I have a 3D Autocad file i am trying to open in Partworks, no matter what dxf file format i save it in Partworks crashes every time. The file is very small and simple???

I never have figured what the deal is with that but I have fixed a bunch for myself and other people by opening those trouble files in Illustrator and re-saving the DXF. They seem to be fine after that.
If you need me to resave it for you, just holler!

Try exporting the data as an STL. PartWorks 3D will only work with solids rather than wireframe.

How do you save a Autocad file in a STL format?

What is the source of the file? Did you draw it, download it or export it from another program?
You cannot import a DXF line drawing into PW3D. It needs to be a mesh. This is why STL was suggested. You can try to convert it in AccuTrans or Rhino to STL binary.

have you tried saving as an old version of autocad. Also make sure you are saving as a dxf and not dwg.

Use STLOUT or the File/Export Data menu option.
