View Full Version : Electric Signs
Haven't posted in a while so thought I'd post a few pics of some electrics signs I've done recently. If this is work of interest to you I suggest you stop by our electric sign forum http://thesignsyndicate.com and network with other electric sign colleagues around the good ol USA and abroad
This is San Diego's East Village "Lucky's Lunch Counter", a small restaurant right across from Petco Park where the San Diego Padres play. This sign and a few others I have done recently are viewed the minute you walk out of the park.

From the router table I cut all the open face channel letter backs and cabinet faces and sides, also the pre cut holes for all the tube supports and fasteners so I can quickly align the letters to the cabinet.
The Blue Neon is called Elite BAM, which is a custom coated glass specific for this job, the orange is also a custom rare-earth coat. The white is Elite 65D, also a custom coated Tri-Phosphor lamp.
Some think the CCFL (Formerly Neon) lamp industry is dead, in fact, it's quite missed as I've had a big boom of it lately. It's just ashame not too many know how, everything seems to be relied on the quick and easy, like LED lighting, just peel and stick.

The sign looks wonderful. So are you cutting the aluminum on the bot? Do you make the glass bulbs as well?

Yes, it's just .063 alum, from the letters to the cabinet itself. As for the CCFL lamps or Neon Lamps, I've done some bending but I wouldn't call myself a Neon Bender per say, or make it official. I have short hours in that dept but since I wear so many hats that part I leave to the real pros. If that's something that interests you there are plenty pf places to learn. Lot's of benders on the SS too if you ever have any questions.
Now would be he time to learn while demand is temporarily low, but that will be back up after the "sugar high" settles down

You know, I'm spoiled working in almost constant 70 deg weather almost all year around, and thanks.
I don't know who that is, I imagine its one of the T.I. guys working inside one of the two locations.
