I am having a problem I have never had before with a sign drawing. I want to send it to a customer for approval but I can not delete the scrap. Any ideas out there? Thanks in advance.

Presuming this is in Aspire/VCarve/Partworks?
What may be obvious to us as scrap isn't always obvious to a computer program.
The easiest thing to do is to create a dummy pocket toolpath that removes the leftover waste part.

In Artcam in the 3-d view there is an icon button at the top called "show zero plane" If you click on that then everything above the plane will be seen and the plane will not. There is a similar command in Aspire.

In Partworks, in the same menu as you "preview toolpaths", there's a button called "Delete Waste Material".

With partWorks... if any part of the tool path goes outside of the design area, no waste area will be deleted. Hope this helps!

one thing to note in V Carve at least is you can't remove the scrap if you are using tabs to hold any pieces. Also I have found situations where delete scrap removes the bit you want to keep and not the scrap but luckily that doesn't happen often. I wish they had a way to allow you to click on the bits you want to remove and this would allow many more scenarios. I find many situations where I actually create extra geometry and toolpaths to generate a realistic model but don't always use the same toolpaths to get the end result which looks like the model. This is especially true when getting the model to show the desired colors, I may create a number of different toolpaths with the same tool to get the colors I want but a single toolpath with all the vectors selected at once would have been good for machining the desired piece. There are generally a number of different ways to achieve the desired result both from the model and the actual machined part.

I am sorry, forgot to mention I have partworks 3.5. I have uswd delete waste command many times without problems until yesterday. I think Steve Glassel is on to something with his response. I will look at stray toolpath(s) outside of the boundary of the drawing.

Steve Glassel got it exactly right, there was a part of a line outside of the boundary of the drawing. Thanks all for your timely responses. This forum is a great resource.
