Working on a job the specs call for solid wood drawers, block board acceptable. I can't seem to find anybody that has it called all the usual places, A&M, Hardware imagination, quality plywood, cabinetware etc... anybody know of someplace that has this stuff available??

Is "block board" just lumber core plywood?

update:I finally found it at specialty supply, its made by Richielieu, not sure about the spelling, it is made up of solid lumber glued up similiar to butcher block but not exactly. It is solid wood prefinished and seems pretty nice.

Is there something wrong with 1/2" oak, soft maple, etc., if they want solid wood? Just a thought.

This material is prefinished and grooved.8' no extra work,
I use it for clients that want wood but don.t want to pay for dovetails.
Gives a nice clean finished look

smooth clean prefinished and not much more than the edgebanded plywood ones. Really makes it quick and easy.Used with prefinished 1/4" panels and we don't have to finish anything, a big time saver for me.

Bruce...
I have used Richelieu's PF Birch draw sides in the past. As long as the client doesnt object to the "butcher block" layup of the material, no problems whatsoever with them.

We marketed them as a "green" alternative to solid maple. We used 5mm dowels as an assembly method. Draw design using eCabs, cut and drilled on the ShopBot using the SB Link. It was easy to fab them out of the 7' (+/-) sticks.
