View Full Version : A Question About Texturing...

When I use a 3D model and raised letters down in a pocket, I can get a texturing toolpath to run around everything but the 3D Models.
The path just runs over the model and eats it.
(I should expand on that, I can texture around 3D lettering I've made with "creat a shape from vectors", the problem comes up when I've created some models using a two-rail sweep.)
I've tried a numbers of ways to come up with a work-around and really haven't had any luck.
I've thought that I may need to trace/create a vector around the 3D model and I have not tried that yet. I thought I may be missing an obvious setting in the "create texturing toolpath" function?
If there are number of different ways to do this, please let me know. I'll give it a try today. :)
I hope I've relayed my question so that you guys can understand it.

Couldn't you start with a closed vector for the two rail sweep and copy it to a sweep layer then hide the original? From there, node edit the vector and create your sweep. Turn the layer back on and use it as a boundry for your texture?

Select the component you've created with the two rail sweep and use the Create Vector boundary tool to create a vector that fits. Same as what you've done with the Create Shape components from then on.

That works unless you create new boundaries from the vectors when you sweep.

That should do exactly what I need. I never even saw that function until you just pointed it out.
Thank You, Gentlemen!!! :)

Will do, Eugene. I didn't get a chance to try it today, I got to making a wine rack for my sister in law, then got dragged out of the shop to go over there and eat dinner.
I only have one laptop out there till I set the new one up tomorrow, and it really slowed me down. I wanted to get this ironed out in the worst kind of way.
I almost finished getting that Vector Art ready for you, too!!! :)
