I have a file I created in V-Carve Pro 6.5.
I open the file and run it and it stops at line 3838.
I tried to reopen the file and start it at line#3839 but when opening it in the "goto" line command it says:
"Undefined Variable: Degree(60 Degree V-Carve3.sbp, 0)
And the machine lost its home position when I sent it to the home position using "JH"
I tried retoolpathing and resaving the toolpath. No Luck
I do my designing and toolpathing on the computer in the office, then carry the file to the Shopbot computer via USB Thumb drive. I copy the file from the thumb drive to the hard drive and always make sure to use the "safely remove hardware" utility in the bottom right corner of windows.
I am going to try toolpathing with a 90 Degree V-Bit and try that.
Does anyone know what that error might mean? I have never seen this before.

David...
Thar error is usually a result of the punctuation in the tool name. SB tech supt will have a fix for you.

Ok, Thanks Gary. Should I email them the V-Carve file and the .sbp file?

David...
Nope. Which version of SB3 are you running and what is your design software and version?

I htink you should always defy variable errors. Being defiant is sometimes quite fun.

Gary,
2001 PRT
Control Software 3.3.18
V-Carve Pro 6.5
Porter Cable Router
I did retoolpath with a .0625 upspiral bit and everything worked fine. I was just using the 60 degree to mark each part with part numbers before I did the cut out path.
I just tried to upload the .sbp file to the forum but it said file is too large.
I have worked past it, but this was just a minor issue since these are just dozens of parts out of PVC marked and cut to shape. I only messed the first one up. It just has me second guessing if I had a hugh file to V-Carve some signfoam with the 60 degree bit?.....
I am going to try deleting my 60 degree bit profile and entering a new one from scratch?

David...
A couple things can help this.
1) You may have to select the proper post to work with a software version that old. SB Tech Supt can help you on selecting one.
2) Many of the newer PartWorks and Aspire versions make files much larger than those old versions of SB3 were designed to run. You may want to consider an upgrade in the near future.

Gary,
10-4, you mean going with the 4G board? I have had my bot sitting in my garage idle for the last few years. But the last 6 months I have gotten back on my feet and have found some really good wholesale contacts. I have been running the bot again now between 5-10 hrs per week and moved it out of my garage into a nice little shop.
Long story short, I was thinking to upgrade to Aspire in the next month or two, then 4G in maybe 8 months if things keep going good. I don't get any calls for 3-D yet, just wanted to start to play with it and show samples.
I have one main question about the 4G board. I understand from what I am reading I can jog and cut at least 2x faster than my current speeds. But I am using a porter cable router (and don't have any plans for a spindle) so I am thinking I will only really gain Jog Speed?
However, I do have a little chatter marks on my cut parts, mainly coming out of a corner from a stop, not going into a corner. (I can post pics) But these chatter marks I speak of are nothing my customers have EVER even noticed. Even years ago when I was running the Bot fulltime. It is just something I am very critical of myself. Will the 4G help that? I have read it improves the resolution, but I really don't know what that means to me.
Any, and all advise you can give to an old botter would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Dave

David..
Yes, an upgrade to the control box enables you to many features that are available in the newer software versions. For the time being, you can find out which of the legacy postP's work best with your version of SB3. Maybe someone with a PRT pre 4G that is using the later versions of PWks or Aspire will Chime in.
I do believe you can upgrade your control software to SB3.4.27.

I have a PRT with no 4G upgrade and am using SB3.4.27. I also have and use Aspire 2.5. Hope this helps.

I have a vintage PR with the 4g upgrade and a router. I can cut faster with less chatter marks and better resolution. The router can cut faster than you think. Also the newer software is nicer to use.

I feel so dumb, I had no idea I wasn't on the latest version of SB Control software for my PRT. Haven't changed a thing on it in many years. I upgraded to SB3.4.27 and ALL is good. The file that was giving me an error is no longer a problem.
Thanks everyone for your help on this.
I think my next upgrade is gonna be 4G, then I will look into Aspire later this year.
