Ive been looking at both and plan on buying in about 3 weeks. Im looking at the shop bot standard (I would love an alpha) 48X48 and the EZ router 48X48.
The difference is in price 12680 for the Shopbot with PC router, probe, e chain and shipping.
The EZ router is 11638 for basicly the same thing.
Is there a big difference in the two?
Camaster stinger II is another Ive looked at but for similar featuers it runs 13200 and its a 36X48.
Thanks

I would recommend calling the ShopBot sales team directly. I'm sure they are familiar with their competitors and can probably explain the differences between them. ShopBot is an honest company and they would be the most knowledgeable on this topic.

I'm sure that all three machines have their following. Each machine will tend to have some advantage, something a bit different, if only in price. Most of us here will tell you they are happy with the bot....support, price and function. I, for one, am not looking to change out my bot.

One thing to take into account is support. I don't know about the ez router, but I do know about the bot. There is a forum you can ask and recieve answers and they have a great support team you can call and get help. Just used them last week. Once again, I do'nt know about the ez router, they may have these also, but if not, the price difference is not worth it. Just my opinion, not affilated with any one but my wife:p

I can't really vouch for Shopbot's customer support... because I never need to call them. Seriously!
(but I hear it's excellant)

Support is the big one for me too. My bot is a 2004 PRT Alpha, I've had to call support twice, once for a false alarm and the second time a $5 part from best buy got me going again. You can't beat a bot or the support.

I looked at both, I even asked the shopbot sales rep "who's better", she did the right thing and said
"I think you should look at the reviews online". Nobody wants to talk &&&& about their competitor unless the other one starts it. It's just not good business.
I decided to go with shopbot because of the service I read about.
If I wanted the cheapest option, I would have imported, but I know you get what you pay for.
The quote ez router gave me had all these upgrades, and a computer cart for like $800(lol). I told him from the get go, give me the basic.
I did the math, and struck out all the upgrades fro their quote.
I think my 4x8 standard cost about $100 more than what ezrouter would have gave me, but I felt better about the purchase.
TDavis,
Perhaps you will get a more objective response from www.3dsignforum.com.
You'll find lots of friendly people using all sorts of CNC's and happy to answer questions. On this forum there isn't that much experience with other equipment. Asking your question here is like going to a Ford Dealership and asking them how they like a Chevy.

Make sure when you get opinions from other people they are talking about the latest versions of the machines in question.
As others have said support is the critical thing. With mainstream machines I doubt there is a huge difference between them hardware wise.
Well there are some differences to consider. I'm sure he's asking about new, latest, equipment.
Many of the software and Hardware CNC equipment has little support. Vectric for example had ZERO phone support. ArtCAm dealers are responsible for direct assostance. I get mine as Skype direct help.
Some CNC manufacturers are also good with phone assistance. All of this is for him to investigate on another forum.
