View Full Version : Anyone built a 'bot out of 80/20?

I saw mention of 80/20 (www.8020.net) the other day. I have been looking at these products for quite some time.

Do you think it would be feasible to build the x & y axis out of this material and it be strong enough for extended use?

Interesting concept. They bill it as an industrial erector set.

Just wondering...

Extruded aluminum is usually very strong. Bishop WiseCarver Inc. sells it for making industrial/cnc type equipment. They are the guys that make the bearings for the shopbot. I suspect that it would be expensive to build a 6'x10' table for the shopbot. I would love to replace/beef-up my y carriage with the stuff. I'd like to find out how much it would cost to build a table if you ever check prices on it.
