I had to design and edit this file then cut it for a person. What would you charge for making this? it is 53"x30" took about 1.5-2 hours to cut. I am not painting or doing anything else, i just cut it.
I charge $30/hr machine time $30/hr design time...

I charge $60/hr for my time, the cnc machine time, or my design time.
I'm bumping my rate to $70/hr in a few months to be in line with the other trades here where I live.
Id say for your sign, a charge of $150 would not be out of line. Ive been charging from between $80 and $200 for the house and cottage signs I've been making since I started advertising I do signs back in April. They are generally much smaller than yours.

who did the the glue up, the clean up, seperated it from the tabs, ect? was there a delivery, collaboration on the design? I have a comprehensive cost sheet to capture all of the variables, so I know exactly what my costs are, then I quote the customer based on the cost sheet. The quote will vary based many factors such as competetive pressure, difficulty of project among others. An ideal project with no competition this size would yield $174.50 for me. Where are you pricing it?

I basically cleaned up some vectors, probably spent an hour on that and toolpathing and it was about 1.5 hours to cut. I priced it at $300.00 and i settled for $200.00 plus a bunch of kiln dried wood (worth 2-3 hundred or more).
She delivered the wood glued up to me so i did nothing but the carving. She was trading the sign to the winery for wine. So she will get 6-8 hundred in wine, i get 200 in cash and 2-3 hundred in wood and the winery gets a finished sign for pulling some bottles out of their inventory that they bottled themselves. I think everyone came out ok on the deal.:D

It sounds like a nice project for you. Good job. That looks like oak. I carve a lot of hardwood but very little oak. How does it machine? Much for clean up or fuzz?Bob

I spent about 30 SECONDS not minutes, sanding it. I just wanted to knock off the chips that were hanging on to some of the edges and i was done.
My deal was not to do any finishing but i wanted to make it clean but it all turned out smooth as a baby's butt.
