Hello all. I bought a PRS standard 48x48 for my classroom and we are just getting started. The first thing I had the students do was to V-carve their names in an oval plaque like the OPEN Sign is in the tutorial. Most of them worked out, however, we had a couple that when we set the tool paths, it ignores part of the letters and cuts them out. Is there some fonts that will not work with SB. We are using Partworks as the drawing software. We have also tried to use AutoCAD with the same results.

Welcome Dennis (and students)
If you attach your sample PartWorks file, forum members can take a look at it to see if there may have been a design/toolpath issue to rule that out.
One thought is, could it be possible that some of the internal parts or islands of a letter (a, b, e, etc.) weren't selected when the toolpath was generated. This can also be see in the preview in PW.
Any font that is on your design computer can be used, but some fonts can be 'messy' and have loops or jagged outlines in them. Also, some fonts that are good normally, can get some of those loop/crossovers when 'Bold' is applied. A close up look at the offending area will generally tell.

Here is the PW tool path that I created and the I and the N are being cut out. I think it is because part of the I and the N cross into each other and the same with the N and the G. Is there a way to fix that?

It will not let me upload the PW file with the tool paths. I must be doing something wrong.

That's right, try zipping it up into a .zip file if you can, as long as it is under the size limit. Otherwise, take a screenshot of the offending area.
If they are overlapping, that can cause issues too. If the text hasn't been converted to curves, you can use the 'Edit text spacing and curve' tool and click between the letters to change the spacing. Click brings them closer and shift click spreads them apart.
A preview of the toolpath in PW will show the problem also, which will save scrapping your project.

Let's try it this way. Hope it works.

I see the problem. You'll need to convert the text to curves and then select each overlapping vector and weld them together. After that, group it and recalculate your toolpath. One other thing, set your v-tool finish pass stepover to 1-2 % to clean up the corners.

Scott, thanks for the help. I will give that a try and see if it works. I will let you know the results
