I know for a lot of you guys, this wont be new - but for some who have Aspire and dont use the capability to two rail sweep - it is a GREAT and fast way to do complex shape moldings.

Some friends of mine, who have an older home, had a bathroom window replaced. Of course, none of the hardware stores here will have anything close to what was in the home.

I did another window previously as well. Just drew out the profile of the straight section (which I cut on my spindle shaper) and within minutes the Bot' was cutting the 1/2 round part.

And the blocks as well. For for custom stuff it can't be beat!

I do a lot of curved moldings. I'm surrounded by old Victorian homes in Cape May and am just starting to get my name out there. Heck of a niche if u can get it.

For this one, a 1/8" round nose bit. It has some sharper edges in the profile (like a 1/2 cove up against the beads), and it was necessary to get the detail. I have used 1/4" ball end bit for others where it was enough to make the pattern.

Andrew,

I have never done curved moulding... I am assuming that you need to
use rough cut and then a final cut -or- or would you be using pockets in Aspire?

Does the cutting go in raster or does it cut along the full line of the moulding?.

Thanks for the answers

Bob,
I actually cut this one in one pass (finish) and used the method (sorry I forget the terminology) that had the cutter starting at one end, and traveling the full length of the 1/2 round molding, and then stepping over 5%, and doing the pass again, etc. Worked from the inside radius outwards.

I think it took about 20 minutes?
