I have downloaded a 3D model from VectorArt 3D, sized and toolpathed in VectorArt Machinist, imported it to PartsWorks.....no problems. Is there a way to create a perimeter vector that matches the perimeter of the 3D model so I can A) use it to create a pocketing toolpath to create a pocket to inlay the 3D finished product, cut separately, into the finished sign, or B) use the perimeter vector in the design of the sign to cut all the 3D and 2 1/2D in one multiple toolpath / tool change operation. The 2 1/2D objects in the sign intersect the 3D object at several places and I need to be able to cut and re-join them. I hope this makes sense. I only have PartWorks and not Aspire.

Thanks,
Mark

Hi Mark,

Go back onto the VectorArt 3D website, find the model you bought and download the free associated .eps vector outline. You should be able to import that into Partworks, resize and center it over the 3D model. I think this is what you are asking.

Tim,
Hope you had a nice holiday. I believe this is what I need, but when I tried to download the .eps file it downloaded as a .ps file instead. Any idea why it didn't download .eps?

Thanks,
Mark

Changing the extension is something MS built into Internet Explorer to make our lives easier...

Chrome and Firefox doesn't do it.
