Corian cutting boards

Christmas gifts for family. I have had my desktop for a week now. I can't believe how easy this machine is to use! I owe my success to the well built machine and the amazing software!

You know what the biggest problem with your cutting boards is??

They will NEVER be used as cutting boards!:D

They will look at these and say..."these are too nice to scratch!":eek:
plan on making some plain replacements because those will be hanging on the wall. Good job (for a newbie!)

Just for your information...

Solid surfacing makes a great serving platter, or trivot, etc. A good cutting board it is not, as it will take the edge off your knives faster than you can say "shop-bot"... it really should not be cut on, unless you have a dull knife you want duller :)

That's why I use maple in my house! The board I make for our house will not have the fluid channel or the handle and will be used for rolling out pizza dough for the grill! The people who are receiving these "cutting boards" will probably never use them, but I like the idea of making something useful; Just like Alton Brown, I hate unitaskers...

Great gifts. Did you do the photos with Photo v carve? if so, do you mind stateing the settings. I have always seen that particular software with alot of potential, but not many use it for its main purpose and I have had hit and miss with it, always trying to learn.

Bob, I'm traveling right now, so I don't have all the setting in front of me. Here is what I remember:

90* vbit from onsrud;
0.002 to 0.003 cut depth;
0.7 ips for x,y; 0.5 ips for z;
I always leave line spacing at 100%;
change contrast and line angle until the preview looks good;
I run the spindle at 8100 rpm, but have adjusted it up and down with no difference in cut quality.
It is almmost impossible to tell if your cut was successful until after you paint and sand! Good luck!!
