View Full Version : What Motors and Pinions Are On Your Machine?

I am wondering what is working for what machines...

Could you please tell me what machine and controller version you have, along with the motors and pinions? Also the speeds you use your machine at, and if there are any cut and or 3D cutting issues.

I have an older machine that I am upgrading. I have the 4g controller with Gecko 203's. Also the newer 8 bearing retro Z. I have not 100% decided on the motors and pinions, although I am leaning towards the 7.2 motors with 25 tooth X and Y and 20 tooth Z.

thanks,

R

Gene which part makes it the weak link? The brackets that hold it? The angled thing? The lack of a hardened top rail? The strut itself? Did adding the angle help your machine much? What motor/pinions do you run on yours? Are they tapered hob or belt drive? What speeds do you work with?

I have added steel to the Y rails, and I will redesign the X rails at some point. I have been thinking about using the V rail on a 90 degree on the top of a heavy steel angle or square bar. The bottom would possibly be the bottom edge of the angle with a spring hold down tensioner.
