Yesterday the electrician ran a line to my ShopBot and hooked everything up. In the ShopBot crate was a small, brown cable (30' long) with three very small wires (red, black, and white)and we have no idea what it is supposed to be for.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

Pretty sure that it hooks to the DCM & FWD terminals on the SB board & VFD if you have a spindle.

Hi Raymond,

Brady is correct on that..... It's not to clear in the manual.

I just ran across this thread. I never installed this cable and have run it for about 2 years now. What is it for? It was never in the manual.

If I recall it comes with the probe kit if you got one and is not used it you have the z-zero option installed. I have a extra one also.

I think that I am correct in this, The brown cable hooks up like Brady said, It is only used if you want the software to control the spindle. You can use the shopbot without the cable attached and control the spindle manually.

http://www.shopbottools.com/files/SBD117_050212PRTAlpha%20VFD%20Wiring.pdf on page two of this document it tells about wiring up this brown wire. I missed it also when I installed the spindle and wondererd what this wire was for, just thought it was extra. LOL
