I know this isn't much, but it is a success for me, so I am going to share it. I have now successfylly got all 4 vac motors working, the spoilboard has been shaved on both sides and been glued into place.

I laid a piece of maple on the deck and it was holding so tight I had to turn the motors off to get the board off.

Ok, so Yea! for me. Now I gotta make something for show and tell!

David;

Spoilboards are shaved on both sides but they are not usually glued down. Glue depending on how much you use can cause the board to warp, swell where the glue is (and then shrink later), it impedes the flow of air from the vacuum through the spoilboard, and is not necessary as the vacuum will hold the spoilboard very firmly in place. The spoilboard should have its edges sealed (with glue, paint, whatever) so that the flow of air is only through the faces of the board.

That's what I meant, I "Painted 70/30 titebond glue around the outer edges of the board with a paint roller, 2 coats, then when it dried, went back with Monster brand Duct Tape and sealed it with that. I can lay my hands down on the spoilboard and it sucks my palms down to the board. It is so freaking awesome that something I did worked!!

Is your wife impressed ???

Are you making some plans for the coming holiday ?

Did you tap in a vacuum gauge into the systems somewhere ?

Vacuum is a great tool in the arsenal! Especially for sheet stock. Glad you are getting great holding :)

Congratulations!

I'm working on getting my Bot a vacuum table.... Gathering info form the forum and getting my head around all the info out there. Did you use the "Black Box" from Gary? And the Light House 110v motors?

Jeff, I used the tried and true, bolt them to the bottom of the table method. Granted, the manifold system would be nice, as you could use the force of all 4 vac motors on one region if you wish, but, after much wasted plywood, a brad nail thru the finger and some verbal butt kicking, I went with old tried and true. The good thing is that if I need more vac, I can just crawl under the bot with a 2 inch hole saw, cut a hole and mount another motor.

As for the motors I used the lighthouse 6765-13 110 volt motors.

Dana, none of this would have been possible without you and Bev, Blessed Be to both of you

Curtis, no plans for the upcoming holiday, we have been married for 26 years come thursday. We no longer celebrate the Hallmark Holidays. If she wants a box of assorted chocolates, she just goes and gets them whenever she wants (I aint gonna try and stop her)!

Now that you are up and running you can start to assemble the box at a more leisurely rate/
