Question for the Brain Trust

I have a prt 48x48, bought it used, I believe I was told it was made in 1996. I dressed up the rails a few months ago,I have removed what I consider to be a lot of burr, about 1/8" on each side. my x rails have rounded over spots on it, I don't see any light between the bearing and the rail. My y rails are all rounded over and no light visible under the bearings. I believe I should replace the rails. Now the question, do I get the new hardened rails from shopbot, just cap it with the caps mentioned on here, or get the rail grinder system and redo them? Any and all info would be apprectiated.

I would get the hardened rails mounted on angle right from SB. It's super easy to remove & replace and it will be right when you are done.

I agree with Brady, why invite problems by using other methods to save a few bucks. Go with what was intended for the machine
