Upgrade stepper motors on prt alpha 2006

Hi, I am new to the forum and could use some help. I have a 2006 prt alpha with the older 911 style stepper motors but I am thinking of changing it to the 7.2 style. My question is, when changing from a direct drive to a belt drive style stepper, do I need to change the X and Y mounting bracket as well or are they interchangeable? I know the retro z has two different mounting brackets for it.
