I added a kitchen island to my home and was pleased with the results. Simple project, but fun.
st Picture: Standard counter top upsidedown with reinforcing plywood for overhang strength. Final Cut was made with shop vac hold down.
nd Picture: I used a 1/2" bit to cut down to the bottom of the counter top material. Inset was 3/8" for new edging.
rd Picture: End view of 0verhang to cover cookbook shelves.
th Picture: This is the other end overhang to cover waste & garbage basket. Edgeing was 2 1/4" x 3/8" Oak with a V carved wheat stem repeated. was unable to bend the corners, so I cut pieces to fit and sanded flush to edge strip.
