I have been using my Buddy Alpha 48 quite a bit lately. As for the past 12 months, no issues - until today.

When I tried running my cut files, the spindle (4HP single phase HSD with the Yaskawa control) would not respond to the rpm's.

It seems to run fine when warming up the spindle through the 3 rpm changes. I can also change manually from either directly on the controller under the machine, or the RPM window on the computer (before I run the program) but it will not go to the requested rpm on the files - all files I have run countless times before for cutting furniture parts.

Not a huge issue since I can still run the machine, but I'd like to figure this out.

I did speak to a Shopbot tech today on the phone. Will try again Friday (as Im out of the shop on the job tomorrow).

ANy suggestions? I did not mess with anything on the computer.

Is the RPM little box still on SB3's screen? We had this problem when the wrong spindle somehow got selected.

Andrew....Had this same thing happen to me once (maybe twice) and hit the space bar quickly before started cutting. Shutdown SB3 and restarted and then reloaded part file and now worked! Put it down to Bill Gates:eek:

Bob, yes the rpm window was still visible.

Today, after I was done working out of the shop - and came back to the shop, I had a little time left, so I turned everything on and ran a few programs... and it was working just fine! Doh!

Ill blame it on the computer gremlins - and hope they dont come around for another year :D
