I saw this as a news story on my local news and the only reason i mention it is that in the story you see them cutting them on a Shopbot. They are out of Tulsa, Okla and thought they might be forum members.

Looks like they were selling a bunch:confused::D

No i didn't have a link it was one of those time filler type of stories on my local CBS affilliate. The only thing that interested me was that they were using a shopbot and figured it might be a forum member and they could see that it was picked up on the east coast.:)

try wooden bow ties in your search browser. You will get a hit for the video on Tulsa TV as well as the store and images.

Tulsa is an interesting town to live in. Lots of talent and youthful enthusiasm. The use of FabLab Tulsa has grown enormously, and some percentage of those ideas being prototyped will turn into markets.

It feels a lot like the early days of the microprocessor. Lots of ideas running all over the place. Very talented individuals, motivated by their own curiosity.

The maker movement is bringing manufacturing back down to individuals instead of being accessible only as consumers. ShopBot has sure done its part in that.

I think the ties should be 3-D carved...not just cookie cutters.

That's pretty cool. Good for them!

that's what I have done they look like fabric. My customer has them made from bb ply so the layers make it look cool. I can't find a pic I will have to get a preview if anyone is interested.

Its the simple ideas that sell....no difficult CNCing here......its all about the marketing. its good marketing that sells those simple ideas...well done to them!

here is what I came up with. I do them out of Baltic birch plywood so it gives some nice effects with the layers.

At $140.00 each i can see why you haven't gotten a repeat order! I don't think they sold too many of them. Too bad you couldn't have been paid half that amount per tie:eek:

not paying 140 bucks for one but I would rock a bow tie everyday if I had one!

they are after the higher end market. They sell in expensive places. but they tend not to have a lot of money and always had to pay me on time.
