Hi everyone,
I have been having a intresting problem with a 3d model of a airplane prop. that i have been trying to create a roughing toolpath for. For some reason it will 3d raster a rough cut, but will not create a z level toolpath. Any ideas on why this would be a problem? my dimensions of the actual model is 60" by 6.87" by .875 thick. Any other model I use I have no problem creating this tool path for.... this one for some reason it doesnt like it...
Thanks for any help you may be able to provide...

Try reducing your tool step down/pass depth to .125" per pass and see if that works. Too coarse of a pass depth and the toolpath will not calculate.

Thanks Brady,
Ill give this a shot and tell you how it worked out for me...

Tried this and it did not work... wondering if it is just the geometry of the model... My step down values were ok...it does however set a tool path for the center hole of the prop but nothing else.. the only way for me to make a roughing tool path was to download the free version of vetor art machinist and use the 3d raster. This takes along time to do it this way...

Do you mean it takes a long time to cut using the raster cut. If that is the case try cutting at a 90% raster.

Z level cut on roughing tool path wont even calculate except for the center hole.

I did however do a 3d cut for rough and increased the step over in machinist and that worked very well for me. Thanks for the tip

Try reducing pass depth to like .0625" and see if it shows up. If the pass depth/step down is too large, it will skip roughing.
