Hi Everyone. I have the vectric software photocarve and am thinking on trying a lyntho. My best friend lost his father last week to cancer (God be with him) and I was thinking of trying to make a lyntho for my friend. I can get some white corion but just wondered if others had any advice for me or info on which lighting is best etc. :)
Cheers,

I have made a few litho's with Corian. For the best results try to get it cut as thin as possible. The light will show the image much better. All the ones I made I used cheap LED lights from Ebay. Vetric has a great tutorial for doing these. Hope this helped.

Glen,
Here is what i've used for years:
http://www.xoxide.com/dual-white-cold-cathode-kit.html
Here is the results i get of ones i did of my son, grandkids and one i did for the Marshall Foundation.
I know alot of guys use LED's but i use the cold cathode lights because they give off no heat at all, are rated to burn 30,000 hours and to my eye distribute the light more evenly across the picture. These are the same types of lights they use in your refrigerated display cases at the grocery store. Next time you go to buy milk look by the doors as you open it up and you'll see what i mean.

I have a lithopane lighting tutorial pdf but it's too big to post here. I googled but couldn't find it to post a link so look in my profile and email me and i'll send it to you.

the lighting makes them look brown in a couple pix..they are all white

I use super bright LEDs in a pocket behind the lithophane shining in towards the center from just outside the image area. The LEDs are shining at ninety degrees from the image. It makes a small light box that is only a half inch thick including the image.

I like that David, do you have any pictures of your frame in the back, with lights, ect?

Thanks Jack, No, I don't have any pics of the back. I just make an oval pocket that is about .25 wider than the image as seen through the mat board. That pocket is the depth of the LED strip about .32 or so. I use half inch thick white foam core. You could use ldf as well but would do well to paint it white. I use the white cardboard that come with the store bought frame as a backer and tape it all together. Honestly, the hard part is the oval matte.
