I just sent shopbot tech team? a message, here is what I said.....This morning I brought my computer that I use in the house out to my shopbot and tried to run the new software 3.8.6 on my shopbot. Well it ran like a champ no problems at all..now here is the problem the computer I used has a intel core 2 cpu 6300 @ 1.86 GHz ,3 GB memory, new version 3.8.6 ran just fine...The computer I use on my shopbot daily runs AMD 9750 Quad-Core 2.4GHz, 4 GB memory, 32 bit OS...Now from what I understand is that quad-core processors are used in 64 bit systems? maybe wrong maybe not just sayin so put your thinking hats on and see what you think because i am really confused at this point.

Hey Raymond. So i guess the suggestion to try a older pc worked. Have you hooked up your quad core to the shopbot AFTER running it with the older pc? Also I am no computer guru but if you have quad core processor and 32 bit os is that ok? I have windows 7 ultimate 64 bit running on my quad core. I, like you could not get it to work and tried a older pc and the older pc with 1.8 ghz 1 gig of ram running xp worked great. I am now running my quad core and it is fine. I did check the "affinity" as Ron Sloan advised. It seems to default to all porcessors. I did set it to cpu 0 once, not sure if that helped or not. Heck run the older house pc and take the quad core in the house...lol
Edit-
Raymond how did you find machine run? Did you do any cuts or speed tests?

This won't answer your question but maybe don't worry about it and just leave them switched if it's working for you right now. You can always switch back later. Haha, Glen just beat me to the punch - with some good additional thoughts.

It worked really well actually too well ,I hooked my shop PC back up and no it did not work, so, it is so frustrating, my shop PC starts out works great for a few minutes then poop, Shopbot called we talked 20 minutes or so and they are just as confused as I am , I am not sure what is interfering with it. Yea I told my wife we will be swapping PC's.

I think a lot of the problems we are having is what processes are running in the back ground of your computer. I was having problems with my computer and turned off a lot of processes that I don't need to run the ShopBot. Below is a list of processes that maybe running on your PC and a lot of them you don't need. Once I turned a lot of them off I have not had one problem running the Bot.

Ron- the list you gave is ONLY for the case where the computer is not attached to a network.

If you are attached to a network you will need some of those services. This is not a complete list, but to start with:

DHCP (gets your assigned network address from the router)
DNS (convert english names "talkshopbot.com" to network addresses)
HTTP SSL (I'm not shure why HTTP needs its own SSL tho, SSL should work for anything.)
Simple Mail Transport Protocol (SMTP) (Thats your outgoing email)
Simple TCP/IP Services (This is part of the network protocols)

Other things with "network sounding" names, are probably less important, but I would look them up before nuking them and be sure you are not using that feature.

Personally I like an isolated computer for my Shopbot so its almost impossible to get a virus, or to be interrupted by foreign spies snooping around. Software cant phone-home either.. and put up those annoying "an update for xxx is available now" messages.

My design computer is not hooked to the internet either, for all the same advantages.

Hope that helps-

D
