Hello,
I've just got the go ahead for a sign job that will be made from 1.5" Corafoam. This sign will be 4 foot in diameter so fairly heavy. My concern is that it will be mounted on a building with vinyl siding.
Does anyone out there have any experience mounting HDU to vinyl siding?
I've got a few ideas but I'd love to hear from someone who has already done this.
I did a search of the forum but didn't find anything addressing this.

Thanks in advance.

Scott

Scott,

Congratulations on the new job.

With this type installation we always use aluminum "L" brackets. We make the by purchasing a 1.5" aluminum angle and cut them off at 1.5". With this method you solve two problems. First off they are close to invisable, second and most important by having the screw going into the edges of the HDU they aren't responsible for much holding power. I'd use four clips total.

Thanks Joe!
That is going to work much better (and easier) than any of my ideas.
I'm going to pick up the aluminum angle tomorrow.

I appreciate your willingness to share your knowledge and experience.
You have just made this job much less stressful for me.

All the best,
