For all those that have been requesting the chipbreaker finisher in a 1/4 " dia.
We have just about finished testing this tool, all going well should be making it available in a few weeks as the BDP009CB.
The special on the BDP001 tapered ballnose in both standard and ZRN tools will continue until this weekend , June 2nd

Hi Gary,

Thank you for the announcment of the upcoming new bit.

For those not familiar with a chipbreaker finisher bit (ahem...like me) would you mind presenting a description of what applications it is used for and its benefits?

Michael,
In a nutshell and without getting technical..... chipbreaker/finishers allow for a faster feed rate, they clear the chip giving a reduced cutting force while still maintaining a smooth finish.

Normally chipbreakers are not available under 3/8” dia. (not enough meat for the tool core) However due to requests for smaller diameter we have been testing the ¼”.

As well as the 2 flute up we have also been testing a straight tool as well.

I missed updating this thread for the new Chipbreaker/Finisher.
After all the testing, we put into production the 1/4" SC DE Downcut Chipbreaker Finisher designated BDP015. 1” LOC, 1/4" Shank, 2-1/2” OAL

Reports to date have been outstanding in its performance making it a very popular tool
For those interested you will find it on the BDP tool page http://beckwithdecor.com/index_files/Cutters.htm
please note the introductory price on this tool will expire at the end of this month.
