What if I don't have a 9-pin D Serial Port connector?

The back of my computer doesn't have a male 9-pin. It has...

25 pin male

(in line) 25 pin female......15 pin female

(in line) 9 pin female (monitor).... 25 pin female

I would really like to get my machine running this weekend. Any suggestions on how to go about an adapter and which connector (of the four not used above) would be the serial board????

There are some molded 25 to 15 adapters
out there.

Thanks for the suggestion. Actually after I posted this I brought the computer in to a local shop and the guy started laughing- I guess the thing wasn't even a 286. Heck, it still works fine.

Anyway, he has a bunch of 486 parts (motherboard, memory, etc.) that he will put together for $100 and that should get me going. He'll even make sure I have a 9 pin connector :)

No really, you can find rack and pinions
manufactured by Boston Gear, Browning, Martin, and
many other manufacturers. Most bearing houses
will be able to order it for you (I have yet to
find one that stocks it).

Look in your yellow pages under "bearings". A
few names are Motion Industries, Purvis Bearing,
and Stuart Bearing (this last one may not be a
chain).
