i have just built a new prt alpha but changed my Z from a 12 inch to 18 inch my
problem is cut any where from 1 inch to the 12 inch works ok
when i try and cut say at 15inch my Z just shoots up will not cut at that depth
my tension springs are loose and the Z IS NOT UNDER TENSION FROM THE SPRINGS ??IS THERE A SETTING I NEED TO INPUT SO THE Z WILL TRAVEL LOWER , POWERING THE MOTORS OFF YOU ARE ABLE TO FREELY PUSH THE Z DOWN AND UP THERE IS NO TIGHTNES IT JUST MOVES VERY FREELY

Rod,
Take a look at the VL command in SB3. Make sure that the Z is defined to go the full stroke.

Also, you indicated that this was a PRT, which is an older tool. If this is a brand new tool, it would be a PRS & as such would have an pneumatic assist cylinder on the Z axis instead of springs. Is this a PRT with 2x2 box tube & angle iron "t-rail" Z axis, or PRS with aluminum extrusion Z axis?

Sorry my mistake I have used a old PRT Alpha Z with a developer kit and the latest SB software , the frame is design special so I can cut surfboards,
I will look at the VL setting and see if the Z has been set for a 12 inch if so I set it for 18 inches ,
Can you send me a picture or info on the pneumatic assist cylinder
