So if Shopbot has a android app for running this tool why is haven't they made a app for us with the full cnc machines? It is a cool machine.

"they made a app for us with the full cnc machines"

I have not played with any of the apps, but.

If I understand the HandiBot (I played with it a lot at Maker Faire), the HandiBot is a ShopBot. So any app for the HandiBot 'should' work on the ShopBot. The catch is that if I can only cut 8 inches at a time (HandiBot)and I need to cut a 96 inch board, the app if set for use with a HandiBot will parse out the toolpath(s) accordingly. The same app when used and set for use with a 48x96 bot will handle that machine too, so I believe the same app might be used for all Bots.

Anyhow that is how I understand how it will work. The HandiBot is a ShopBot the same as a the Desktop is a ShopBot.

If I'm wrong I apologize in advance. :D Russ

I guess it is using just apple for the app then. I didn't see any android devices. So can someone explain to me the campaign? Is it to make these devices for schools and universities?

Hey guys,

The kinds of apps we're talking about for the Handibot are not replacements for the control software running on a pc. They will be much closer to the current virtual tools and especially the wavy scarf web app in 100kprojects.com

We are certainly working toward getting away from having to use a PC...being able to run on anything...but the apps we're talking about with the Handibot are not that... just ways to easily generate customized toolpaths for specific jobs.

When we were demonstrating the HandiBot at Maker Faire you could tell that ShopBot had come up with another winner! I think the Kickstarter results prove it! Congratulations to Ted and his wonderful crew! Go get em' gang! :D Russ
