Got the e-mail this morning and it should be here Monday. Mad scramble to Atlantic hardwood and Rockler, enough 4" duct and fittings to strangle an octopus, You would think Rockler would carry t-nuts,not bolts only. Oneida with the steel can showed up without the lid. Now I only have to move my 8 and 12/4, and relocate my hardwood ply sheets, piece of cake in a wheelchair. Why am I smiling?

You're gonna have a blast, brother!!! :)
I held up ordering mine because I was building a whole shop and didn't want to work around it. I'd expected 6 weeks and it came earlier, so I had to work around it for awhile until I got done.
I've only had it for 14 months and I never imagined I'd be making the cool stuff that I'm making now. There's been TONS of reading, but the guys here are a huge help. Brady will dump all the reading on you that you can stand if you'll just ask, he's just a straight up great guy.
Keep us in the loop and get us some pics, will you, Mr. Scott? I'm looking forward to watching you move along!!! :)

I look back on the questions I have asked and feel pretty stupid. Brady was the first person who answered my posts and his advise has not been wrong once, I offered to bake him a cake(it probably would have killed him). Excited, scared. But already thinking about the smoked chrome, mica insert, cherry pocket doors I envisioned back in '95, WITH Celtic Knotwork. Learning.

If there is any way for you to do it get to a camp Shopbot. I don't care how long you have been working with one you will pick up enough valuable information to make it well worthwhile.

I tried to get up to the Colby College ,but things fell through on my I end. I was looking forward to it and will try again soonest Transportation is my problem. I got four wheels that go roundy-roundy but only 1/8 horsepower- me.

I almost hate to suggest this but ... you have a machine that can make a lot of different things. Perhaps a car battery holder ... get a trolling motor minus the propeller ... some pulleys and a belt ... You could make your wheel chair do 30mph easy.

Of course you'll need a steel toothbrush to get the bugs out of your teeth (unless you hit something in which case you won't need the tooth brush at all).

It's just a thought ...

Seriously, If you need some help, I'm about an hour from you.

Thanks for the offer Paul, but if I built anything it would probably be a side car or training wheels for my R75/6 BMW motorcyle which I haven't ridden in 24 yrs. Hmmm?

Scott,
I would take Paul up on his offer. Everyone needs a little push in the right direction and at least some mentoring while getting going. I would be willing to bet that a couple hours with Paul would put you 6 months ahead in your learning. Although I only know Paul by reputation, I would venture to say it would be foolish to not at least meet up. He's a pretty sharp guy.

Thanks Brady, When I get set up I'll ask Paul If he'll still be willing be willing to help a newbie out in exchange for some wood I've amassed over the years. Could use any help I can get as its all new to me (CNC). High praise from you Brady. Take care. Scott

The Colby College Camp was well done. Bill ALWAYS does a good job. It is also fun meeting other people.... and it is great to see what others are doing. Another Excellent camp was Rob Jones's in Indiana... small money,
BIG learning experience and renowned experts in many fields (as we say in Boston.... Wicked Cool)

Scott, there are quite a few of us in the New England area. I live in Mass and have a camp in sunny Dover Foxcroft Maine, so it you get stuck, give us a yell. I have a 4x8 alpha but had the pleasure of using a early desktop
for a shopbot customer.... Very nice unit!

Bob, thanks for the offer between you and Paul I could learn a lot if I have problems and even if not. "Wicked Cool" you guys adopted it from us Mainiacs. Shopbot got to Portland 4:30 AM and is stuck in the container until tommorow, so about suppertime we'll be uncrating, who needs food. To bad I'm taking off this weekend to go fly fishing up by the Allagash. Iasked my Dad if the desktop can have his bed. Looking forward to it.

Morning Todd, You were the first person to offer to open there shop to me even if we never got a chance to visit. You do know you're on the wrong side of the river right? I hear moving way down south to New Hampshire doesn't make the winters warmer at all. Joking, grew up slogging the Portsmouth Press Herald through snowdrifts in North Hampton. Can't wait to get set up and see how the wood actually cuts.
